Generally, we only collect the information we need to run Flamingo and run our business. We keep your information private and only disclose information to third parties only in limited circumstances. We don’t sell your information and we don’t collect information without your consent.
Details of how we use and collect information are below. If you have concerns, we encourage you to contact us.
Types of information we collect
Flamingo collects a number of different types of information. Some of this information can be used to personally identify you.
While using Flamingo you provide information to us. This includes things you may think about, such as the information you input when listing a textbook, but this also includes things that you may not think about, such as search queries or messaging within the Flamingo application. We collect and store this information in order to run Flamingo.
Automatically collected information
When you access Flamingo, your phone automatically sends certain information to us. This includes things like your IP address, web browser type, or phone operating system. This isn’t unique to Flamingo; whenever you access a website or use an app, information like this is transmitted, but we want to make sure you’re aware of this.
Personally identifiable information
Flamingo collects information which may be used to personally identify you in order to allow you to log in to our application.
Location and GPS information
Flamingo works by matching students buying and selling textbooks based on location. When you search for a book, we will use your location to help find people selling textbooks near you. If you are selling a book, we will store a single “home” location for the same purpose.
We do not use this information to track you, nor do we collect any location information when we are not using Flamingo.
Camera, microphone, sensor information
Flamingo requires access to your camera in order to list a textbook with a picture. We do not turn on your camera without your consent; Flamingo will only access your camera in response to you pressing a button that says, “Take picture” or something similar.
We do not use your camera, microphone, or any other sensors on your mobile phone without your consent, nor do we use them while you are not using Flamingo.

To provide usage statistics
We may use the information you provide to use to generate usage statistics which will drive our business decisions.
